In the position of "Souvloto Mouri", in 1903, the excavations under the direction ofSt. Xanthoudidis brought into light a building of the Minoan period. Its uniqueelliptic form -uncommon for the period- and its function, puzzled the archaelogistsfor many years. In I971, a new research conducted by the Professor Mr. Dabarasrevealed new evidence that this building was in fact a residence, of unique style inthe Minoan period, dating back to 2200-2000 B.C. while the remains of more ancientresidences have been found. During the excavations cupreous objects were found inthe exterior of the residence, while in the rooms vessels and some figurines havebeen found, which are saved in the Museums of Heraklion and Aghios Nikolaos.
